    LocalCareers.com announced on Tuesday that it has acquired the statewide job site MontanaJobs.com, further expanding the firm's connections to the western United States. This is LocalCareers' second merger in that area. Earlier this year the company made a three-site deal to purchase job sites in Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

    While LocalCareers already owns the job site MontanaJobs.net, CEO Brian Weis says that their new acquisition is a smart move because it is more of a mainstream site with better accessibility. “I think it’s more of a premier domain name, that gets more traffic,” Weis said. “It’s just a better message and image overall.”

    Merge eFilm provides imaging solutions to 32 new medical customers


    The software services company Merge eFilm announced on Tuesday that it has installed its Fusion medical imaging software for 32 additional customers, bringing the total to about 160. The addition of these new customers — including imaging centers, hospitals, and orthopedic clinics — means the software is now represented in over 320 healthcare centers worldwide.

    Fusion is a system for managing healthc-care images and information. In some of the medical settings it is deployed in — including the Center for Diagnostic Managing in Minneapolis and the Excel Diagnostics Imaging Clinic in Houston — it organizes the data for radiology workflow.

    "Our target market needs an easy-to-use and cost-effective RIS/PACS solution that improves business and clinical productivity, enhances patient and referring physician services and delivers a rapid return on investment," Richard Linden, Merge's president, said in a statement. "Our customers have deployed our Fusion solutions to realize the benefits of filmless and paperless business and clinical operations."

    Steam-turbine vendor for Oak Creek power plant chosen; hearing next Wednesday


    If the permit application for new power plants in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, goes through, Hitachi America will supply two 677-megawatt steam-turbine generators for about $200 million, the company announced Wednesday.

    The Elm Road Generating Station om Oak Creek is expected to start producing power in 2009 or 2010. It is part of a We Energies program to increase power generation in the state.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public hearing September 29 at the Oak Creek Community Center, 8580 South Howell Avenue, before finally deciding whether to grant the permit.

    Some work has already begun in coordination with Bechtel Power Corporation's Maryland office.

    Inacom opens Appleton location


    Madison-based technology solutions provider Inacom Information Systems has expanded their operations by opening a new office in Appleton, Wisconsin.

    The new 7,000-square-foot location will provide Fox Valley businesses and institutions with technology consulting, education and procurement.

    Earlier this year Inacom expanded into Milwaukee, Appleton and LaCrosse. Inacom, with 140 employees state-wide, focuses on application development, learning solutions, networking, procurement, project management, security, storage, and voice, video, and data convergence.
