Norlight offers voice over IP service to Wisconsin and Chicago area

MilwaukeeNorlight Telecommunications, a Brookfield, Wisconsin, telecommunications provider, has launched a new voice over Internet Protocol service for small and medium-sized businesses in Wisconsin and the Chicago area. Next month, the company expects to offer the service to businesses in Minnesota, Michigan, and Indiana, according to Bernie Rosen, vice president of marketing.

IPLive will integrate voice, data and Internet services into one Web-based provider.

“It's a nice alternative to Centrex users — the integration of voice, data and unified messaging means everything is in one folder,” Rosen said.

A personal locator and remote calling are additional features that allow calls to be forwarded to up to three numbers with specified call treatments. Users can also forward faxes and voice mail via the Web.

IPLive does not require capital investments such as expensive PBX, Rosen said. The system is intended for companies with 15 to 200 employees. In addition to Brookfield, the company has offices in Green Bay and Madison.

Another new development is MetaSolv Solution, operational support system software that manages order processing, service provisioning, network inventory and design, trouble resolution and workflow management.
