Norlight offers new recovery service to displaced customers

Brookfield-based Norlight Telecommunications has introduced a new service to its business continuance portfolio, a disaster-recovery facility for fallback operations.

Workspace Recovery provides customers with a secure back-up facility, available around the clock within Norlight's headquarters. Displaced employees can temporarily go to work at the center when use of their primary facility is cut off by a disasters such as a power outage, severing of telecommunications lines, fire, tornado, or flood.

The Workspace Recovery Center is set up like an office, with private cubicles, the usual array of printers, copiers and fax machines, a kitchen, a break room, lavatory and shower facilities, and storage. The space also has a high-speed network connection with Internet telephone handsets.

"Our Workspace Recovery service helps organizations avoid a significant loss in revenue and productivity, if they are unable to conduct normal business operations at one of their primary worksites," explained Tim Mauck, Norlight's category manager for managed services and data center services. "Even a short-term outage can have a dramatic impact on an organization's ability to deliver customer service or meet compliance requirements."

Norlight provides integrated voice and data solutions and wholesale transport solutions to businesses and has been in business for 33 years.
