Profits up at Badger Meter

Milwaukee — Badger Meter Inc. (AMEX:BMI) reported $3.5 million in profits on $54.4 million in sales for the quarter ended March 31, a profit jump of 42 percent over last year's first quarter.
Badger Meter makes metering products for water systems, including a wireless display that can be mounted anywhere and shows water usage.
Profits for the same quarter last year were $2.4 million, on $49.6 million in sales. Executives attributed much of the increase to the company's Orion system for residential water meters.
The company also marks its 100th anniversary this year.
