Sonic Foundry makes Japanese version of lead product

Madison, Wis. — Sonic Foundry has made a new version of its Mediasite presentation recorder for the Japanese market, where it says it has sold 50 units to date and hopes to create a bigger market.

Mediasite is a system that can synchronize a slide show such as a PowerPoint deck with a video of the speaker or meeting, then put the presentation online as a webcast.

According to company statements the Japanese market is attractive because of a high demand for content over broadband, graphical content in general, and distance learning products.

The Japanese product, sold through distributor Mediasite KK, will be marketed as "Mediasite Live," which Sonic Foundry says is supposed to distinguish it from the American Mediasite.
