Madison music featured on Internet radio station

Local Madison bands are available 24 hours a day now that a new company has created an online radio station to feature them.

The Web site MusicMadeInMadison.com plays more than 450 songs written and performed by Madison musicians such as the Profits, Daedalus Burn, Infinite Helix and They Drive By Night. Founded in March 2005 by Regional Radio, LLC, the site's goal is to help both the circulation of the artists and awareness of Madison's independent music community.

Users can access the site with a broadband Internet connection and most media players. The songs are organized into three mixes which play at set times during the day: a Madison mix that combines pop and rock songs, a classic mix of 1970s and 1980s Madison artists, and a "Whoopatooli" mix that plays styles like metal, jazz, country and techno.

Internet radio is a rapidly growing market. International marketing firm Arbitron estimating 37 million listeners use Internet radio at least once a month.
