SecurePipe acquires mailMax programs

Lincolnshire, IL - SecurePipe, a provider of managed network security services, said it has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Mycom's mailMAX Managed Services Division and the mailMAX email management technologies from Cincinnati-based Mycom Group, Inc.

SecurePipe is a provider of managed network security services for sectors such as manufacturing, education, health care and financial institutions. Headquarted in Illinois, about 75 percent of its actual workforce is located in Madison, according to Michael Kiefer, senior vice president.

The mailMax suite is an Internet-based solution for spam filtering, virus protection and overall e-mail security. The acquisition will strengthen SecurePipe's position in the growing market for secure managed email services. the company announced. It could also bring new personnel from Mycom into SecurePipe's Madison offices.

"It adds depth and breadth to SecurePipe as far as open-source and Linux heritage," Kiefer said. "The acquisition culturally is a great fit for SecurePipe."

As part of the agreement between the two companies, SecurePipe will retain key personnel and engineering staff. Mycom will continue to distribute mailMAX managed services operating as a reseller for SecurePipe.
