Info security group announces first Eastern European chapter

Oak Creek, Wis. -- Information security professionals in Eastern Europe now have a new ally in the fight against cyber crime, as today the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) announced the formation of its 100th worldwide chapter in Warsaw, Poland. It is the organization's first chapter in Eastern Europe.

"The addition of Poland as our 100th chapter worldwide highlights the fact that information security is truly a global challenge," said Kevin Richards, vice president of chapter relations for ISSA, which is headquartered in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek. "This is a great step for the European information security community," he added.

Richards said some of the challenges in creating the Poland chapter included having to modify the standard by-laws to fit Polish governmental standards, as well as organizing enough information security professionals to create a strong chapter foundation. ISSA is also aware that the USD 95 annual membership fee is a significant investment for new members in the region.

ISSA is a not-for-profit association for security professionals, with more than 13,000 members in 100 chapters around the world.
