Platypus raises $1.2 million from private investors

Fitchburg, Wis.Platypus Technologies, a developer of a new platform technology using liquid crystals with applications in diagnostics, drug discovery and environmental monitoring, raised $1.2 million in its most recent round of investment. It was the firm’s third round.

Platypus qualified under Wisconsin Act 255, which grants tax credits to individuals who invest in Wisconsin start up companies. The company is located in the New Venture Center on the Fitchburg Technology Campus and has 19 employees.
