Broadjam upgrades musical Web hosting

Madison, Wis. - Who needs a record label? Independent musicians can now record a song, upload it to their own unique Website, and sell it five minutes later, courtesy of a new Web hosting product developed by Broadjam, Inc.

The music technology firm's Web Hosting 2.0 represents a customization expansion over previous options, including a new Do-It-Yourself (DIY) option that allows users to host their existing Web site with Broadjam, or build a new one.

Broadjam CEO Roy Elkins said the technology empowers artists to take full advantage of the Internet "to promote themselves and expose their music to a broader audience, while accommodating unique styles and graphics."

Aimed at experienced Web designers who already have a Web site or want to create a new customized Web site and host it through Broadjam, DIY Hosting includes a Linux platform, scripting support, and e-mail accounts.

In contrast, templated Hosting is Broadjam's Web site service for those with little or no Web design experience. It allows clients control over the look, style, and content of their site. Both DIY and templated Hosting offer mailing list capabilities, which give musicians a direct line of communication to their fans.
