Brady appoints GE efficiency expert as CTO

Milwaukee, Wis. - Brady Corp., a manufacturer of identification solutions, including signs and labels, has announced the appointment of Robert Tatterson to the position of chief technology officer.

Tatterson, who brings expertise in process and product innovation, materials development, and chemical engineering, will direct Brady's global R&D functions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He will report to company President and CEO Frank Jaehnert.

"I'm looking forward to working with Brady's team of chemists and engineers," Tatterson said in a release.

Tatterson come to Brady from General Electric Co., which he joined in 1992 as a research and development engineer at GE's Corporate Research Center. While there, he developed processes for GE business units, including GE Lighting and GE Silicones.

He later moved to GE Plastics, a unit of GE's industrial segment, most recently serving as technology general manager for GE Plastics' Display and Optical Films business in Mount Vernon, Ind.

He holds advanced degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and is a Six Sigma "Master Black Belt." Six Sigma refers to a methodology, pioneered by Motorola, for measuring, analyzing, and improving processes.

Brady Corp. is an international manufacturer of safety devices, printing systems, software, and die-cut materials. Founded in 1914, the company has more than 500,000 customers in industries such as electronics, telecommunications, and construction.

Brady employs more than 8,000 people at operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific, and had sales of $1.018 billion in fiscal 2006.
