Kyron appoints former AMA chairman to board

Wauwatosa, Wis. - A Milwaukee-area brain imaging software producer has welcomed an experienced medical leader to its board of directors.

Dr. Timothy Flaherty, former chairman of the American Medical Association and one of the world's top radiologists, has joined Kyron Clinical Imaging, Inc., a company founded by practicing professionals at the Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Radiology.

Paul Schmelzer, Kyron's CEO, said in a release that Flaherty's guidance will make an important contribution to the company's clinical and corporate development.

A long time member and former chairman of the AMA's board of trustees, Flaherty received his medical degree from the Marquette University School of Medicine, which become the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1967.

He went on to complete a 32-year career in the military and retired from service as deputy surgeon general of the Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. Currently an active staff member at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, Wis., where he is the director of the hospital foundation, Flaherty serves as a clinical professor of radiology at the University of Wisconsin Health Science Center and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Flaherty also has served as a director of the Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corp., former president of the Wisconsin Radiological Society, and member and former chairman of the board of the National Patient Safety Foundation.
