Madison again ranks as most digitized city

Madison, Wis. - For the second consecutive year, the City of Madison received recognition as the one of the most digitized and online-accessible municipalities in the country.

In its 2006 Digital Survey, The Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology and best practices in state and local government, honored the city as the top user of technology in its 125,000-249,999 population category. Madison tied with the City of Alexandria, Va.

Madison boasts several tools for facilitated interaction with the city, including the “Report-a-Problem” website, Madison's online City Hall, and the online bill payment center.

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz thanked the city's information services department, led by Dick Grasmick, for its creation of a “user-friendly city government,” and promised to create an “enterprise permitting” system next year to help streamline interactions with developers and other permit-seekers.
