TrafficCast integrates new information source

Madison, Wis. - The company that works behind the scenes to turn traffic data into travel time forecasts will be licensing a new data source to refine its routing and navigation tools.

TrafficCast International, Inc., which provides real-time traffic data aggregation and analysis to traditional and interactive media, fleet management firms, and the public sector, is working to combine its expertise with data from LandSonar, a San Francisco, Calif.-based firm.

LandSonar has gathered and modeled archived traffic data to provide predictive traffic information for the entire U.S. road network. The data is based on billions of open and proprietary historic GPS and sensor sources collected over three years, the company said.

The alliance will connect LandSonar's engineering expertise and information technology with similar intellectual property from TrafficCast, which aggregates real-time information from over 350 data sources in the United States and provides data feeds and traffic impact modeling tools.
