Verizon expands broadband service in Wisconsin

Milwaukee, Wis. - Verizon Wireless is rolling out what it calls the next generation of high-speed broadband service to customers in the Greater Milwaukee, Greater Madison, and the Fox Valley, and its promising them higher speed access to the Internet, e-mail, and corporate data.

According to Verizon, customers will be able to upload files five to six times faster than before with the new service, which is based on data optimized technology.

Network coverage will span approximately 7,500 square miles around Wisconsin, including communities along major highways like Interstate 43 from Green Bay to Milwaukee and from Beloit northeast to U.S. Highway 12; Interstate 90/94 from Madison to Wisconsin Dells and from Madison to Janesville and Beloit; and U.S. Highways 41 and 45 from Fond du Lac to Madison.

Verizon said its new service will provide customers with upgraded broadband access on their laptops, e-mail on their PDAs, and V CAST videos and music over their wireless phones.
