Johnson Controls deals for asset-tracking software

Milwaukee, Wis. - In a deal that will bring asset-tracking solutions to healthcare and other building types, Johnson Controls has signed a joint sales and marketing agreement with PanGo Networks.

The Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls, which provides systems, technology, and services to buildings - including more than 40 percent of North American hospitals - said the agreement will expand its wireless capabilities and provide location-enabled asset tracking for healthcare and other facility types.

PanGo's location management technology tracks data from radio frequency identification (RFID) and real-time location analysis systems.

In the healthcare industry, which is governed by the compliance requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, asset-tracking technology allows facilities to locate and track a variety of mobile biomedical equipment. The ability to track and locate equipment can play a role in improving patient and staff workflow and in reducing the cost of misplaced equipment.

Johnson Controls reported $32.2 billion in 2006 sales and employs more than 110,000 people worldwide. The company is best known for its building efficiency and power solutions, but it also is working to develop next-generation hybrid car batteries.
