Platypus Technologies appoints Jeff Williams as CEO

Madison, Wis. - Platypus Technologies, a provider of nanotechnology-based products for the biotechnology industry, has announced the appointment of University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate and former Promega Corp. executive Jeff Williams as chief executive officer.

He will succeed company co-founder Barb Israel, who will serve the organization as a board member and a consultant.

Prior to joining Platypus, Williams served as senior vice president and was in charge of product development at Asuragen, an oncology molecular diagnostic company based in Austin, Texas.

Before joining Asuragen, Williams was vice president and general manager of Ambion Diagnostics, where he was responsible for the commercialization of several FDA-regulated diagnostic products.

He also spent more than 10 years at Roche Diagnostics, which recently acquired the Madison-based NimbleGen Systems, and spent six years as director of operations with Promega Corp. Williams received both his Bachelor of Science and PhD degrees from UW-Madison.

Platypus, which is located in the Fitchburg Technology Campus, has 23 employees.
