Metavante appoints two executive technologists

Milwaukee, Wis. - Metavante Corp. has appointed Gary A. Refinski and Dave Fortney to key technology positions within the company, a financial technology subsidiary of Marshall & Ilsley Corp.

Refinski, who recently served as executive vice president, was named chief information officer. He will be in charge of operations and service delivery, technical support, technology infrastructure, and corporate systems. He has been with Metavante for 24 years, starting in 1983 as a development programmer.

Refinski succeeds Brian Hurdis, who was promoted in March to president of the Metavante Image Solutions division.

Reporting to Refinski will be former senior vice president Dave Fortney, who was named chief technology officer. Fortney, who will lead the company's Technology Committee, joined the company in 2002. Since 2003, he has served as senior vice president and division executive of electronic payment.

Prior to joining Metavante, Fortney served as executive vice president and CTO of Paytrust, an online bill management company acquired by Metavante in 2002.

Fortney succeeds Jim Dempster, who will continue to serve as Metavante's chief software architect.
