Milwaukee, Wis. - Rockwell Automation, a Milwaukee-based maker of industrial software and automation equipment, said its fiscal fourth-quarter profit from continuing operations rose to $163.8 million, or $1.07 a share, up from $156.8 million, or 89 cents, in the same three-month period of 2006.

The company, whose stock rose on a slow day for the market, said in a Q4 earnings conference call that it expects to report a per-share 2008 profit of $4.25 to $4.45, up from $3.70 in fiscal year 2007. The company's sales growth is projected to be in the 10 percent to 12 percent range.
