Johnson Controls To Showcase New Technologies for the Auto Industry

MILWAUKEE -- Johnson Controls, a producer of automotive systems and facility management and control, will demonstrate new components and systems at the 2004 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) held this coming January in Detroit.

Among the products and concepts slated to be on display are:

3E (Ecology, Economy and Ergonomics) Concept Interior -- an example of a near-future vehicle cabin designed to have universal appeal for several generations of consumers, and to provide solutions linked to emerging societal trends.

Open Seating(TM) -- a complete seat system that brings real innovation and a new level of comfort and utility to second- and third-row seats of cars, trucks and minivans. This first-of-its-kind seating product features side bolsters that provide comfort similar to the front row, when the seat is deployed and fold completely flat when the seat is stowed;

Floor Rail Interior Personalization System -- an aluminum rail that is integrated into the vehicle load floor that enables one or more consoles to be moved fore and aft and positioned in any location along the rail; and Railport(TM) Vehicle Personalization System -- a product that offers consumers the ability to customize the interior of their vehicles at the point of purchase and throughout a vehicle's lifecycle. Integrated into a vehicle's overhead system, Railport features flexible docking technology that provides for the attachment of a variety of modular devices.
