GWC announces patent on biochip technology

Madison, Wis. — Biochip technology in GWC Technologies Inc.'s SpotReady product line has been patented, the company said. GWC licenses the technology exclusively from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

GWC says its approach makes it easier for researchers to prepare biochips full of proteins or other molecules without using spotting equipment.

SpotReady resulted from work done with Robert Corn, a co-founder of the company, while he worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Corn is now a chemistry professor at the University of California-Irvine.
