Madison, Wis. -
Imago Scientific Instruments has announced a partnership with
FEI Co. to distribute and market Imago's atom probe microscope.
The collaboration allows FEI, which develops tools for nanoscale discovery, to establish an equity position in Imago and gives the Hillsboro, Ore. company the option to purchase Imago in the future.
Imago's LEAP atom probe line is used to study, at the atomic scale, advanced materials. This capability made the Madison-based company an attractive partner and a potential acquisition target for FEI.
Don Kania, president and CEO of FEI, said the company's sales team is excited about the prospect of introducing Imago's products to its global customer base.
For Imago, the alliance is an opportunity to offer its atom probe product with FEI's platforms, and make the transition from an instrumentation provider to a solution provider, according to CEO Tom Kelly.
