University innovation gets a first look at '08 Entrepreneurs' Conference

Milwaukee, Wis. - Wisconsin is known as a leader in university-based research, and those innovations will be recognized at the 2008 Wisconsin Entrepreneur's Conference in Milwaukee.

During the event, set for June 9 and 10 at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, nine research projects from the University of Wisconsin System and private colleges will be presented as part of the inaugural “First Look Forum.”

The forum is an opportunity for investors to get a sneak preview of university innovations that eventually could be commercialized by a start-up business. Researchers from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and UW-Stout will have an opportunity to present to investors.

Among the investors keynoting at the annual conference are David Brophy, director of the Michigan Growth Capital Symposium; G. Steven Burrill, founder of Burrill & Co.; John May, chairman of the Angel Capital Association; and Sue Strommer, president and CEO of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds.
