Imaging Biometrics product receives FDA clearance

Milwaukee, Wis. — The FDA has given clearance to software for perfusion magnetic resonance imaging made by Imaging Biometrics, the company said on Thursday. The firm says its software more accurately differentiates between brain tumors and healthy tissue.

Imaging Biometrics claims its software has a better way to correct for the leakage of contrast agents that highlight tissues, and that it generates results in seconds. Beta versions of the software, which is a plug-in to open-source imaging package OsiriX, have already been licensed to at least two dozen institutions for research purposes.
