Stem-cell awards come to Madison; Doyle honored

Madison, Wis. — The Genetics Policy Institute (GPI) announced today that it would present its Stem Cell Action awards September 22 at the World Stem Cell Summit here, and that among the honorees is Governor Jim Doyle.

GPI is producing the summit with the University of Wisconsin Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine Center and WiCell Research Institute.

Other honorees include the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation; the National Association of Biology Teachers; Brooke Ellison, who founded the Brooke Ellison Project promoting stem cell research after becoming paralyzed; and Ben Kaplan, who advocated for California's Proposition 71 funding stem-cell research.
