Web-Based Learning Developed under new Chief Education Officer

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – Renaissance Learning, a provider of school improvement programs and learning information systems for educators, announced Saturday the appointment of Arthur Stellar to the newly created position of chief education officer.

Stellar plans to lead the development of Renaissance Place, an integrated, Web-based information system that allows educators to monitor progress and improve teaching and learning, and StandardsMaster, a solution designed to help districts and schools ensure that all students meet state standards.

“This is an opportunity for technology to serve educators in meeting the needs of their students while accomplishing the goals of No Child Left Behind and their respective state standards,” Stellar said.

Stellar also plans to strengthen the Renaissance Learning’s focus on multiple-school and districtwide implementations.

Stellar is currently chairman of the board for the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network. He has most recently served as president and chief executive officer of High/Scope Educational Research Foundation where he created and staffed and early childhood reading institute.

Renaissance Learning’s products have been adopted by approximately 65,000 schools. The company, which was founded in 1986, has six U.S. locations and subsidiaries in Australia, Canada, India and the United Kingdom. It is based out of Wisconsin Rapids.
