AT&T launches U-verse Voice in Madison

Madison, Wis. - AT&T has announced the availability of its AT&T U-verse product for digital voice service in parts of Madison.

The service, which is delivered over the AT&T U-verse Internet protocol (IP) network, is designed to join home phone, wireless, broadband, and television services on one bill.

AT&T is engaged in a next-generation battle for telecom consumers with the likes of TDS Telecom, which has introduced a hosted IP phone service.

According to AT&T, the new digital voice service provides a new level of integration in a single, voice mailbox for AT&T U-verse Voice and AT&T wireless messages. Features also include an online portal to manage call preferences and settings from any personal computer, an online address book, click-to-call and call history on PCs and television screens, and several other integrated features.

In rolling out the service in Madison, the company also said that all U-verse Voice customers will have 911 service, and customers can choose from two calling plans - an unlimited AT&T U-verse Voice plan for $30 a month, and a U-verse Voice 1000 plan for $25 a month.

It's fantastic how AT&T got all of the state senators
to buy into this ($1,000,000 a pop in some cases more
for the governor) and now we inherit the legacy
of all the years that Baby Bells came back together
even after AT&T had been split into several pieces
to encourage competition in the supposed "Free marketplace" of the telecommunications industry and prevent monopolies such as this from ever happening again to America's most important economic engine
the U.S. consumer.
