Burrill business plan contest to be held Friday

The G. Stephen Burrill Business Plan Competition will be held this Friday, April 17 in the Plenary Room at Grainger Hall. The daylong event, which begins with a talk by Burrill & Co. CEO Steve Burrill at 7:30 a.m., is free and open to the public.

The contest offers students a chance to compete for cash prizes of up to $10,000 and has drawn hundreds of students over its 11 years.

Winning ideas have included plans to market and sell products such as personal finance software, bindings for wake boards, and bio-genetic information. Several teams have gone on to form successful new business ventures.
