Lands’ End Debuts Updated Virtual Model

Dodgeville, Wis. – Lands’ End, Inc.,, Wisconsin-based online clothing retailer, introduced Thursday an updated version of My Virtual Model in a continued effort to take the guesswork out of online shopping.

The new My Virtual Model is designed to help both men and women find clothes that fit correctly by modeling garments virtually. It now provides recommendations, fit counseling and a more life-like model that closely resembles the customer.

“Our customers tell us one of their biggest concerns with shopping for apparel on the Web is, ‘What size do I need and how will it fit?’” said Sam Taylor, vice president of e-commerce for Lands’ End. “Shopping with our new version of My Virtual Model is a lot like having your most honest friend telling you whether you picked the right size and whether it fits right all over your body.”

Real-life measurements of the shopper are used to create an online model, and once the shopper’s size is determined and recommended, the “My Fit” link shows, in graph form, how a garment fits over certain parts of the users body.

More than 1,000 Lands’ End garments will be “fit-enabled” to be used on the new My Virtual Model, including, shirts, pants and activewear.

In 1998, Lands’ End was the first Web site ever to make My Virtual Model available to online shoppers.

Your 'Womens Stretch Trousers' I previewed on model, and saved, stated not compatible, removed from my saved; but I can't stop them from popping up with shirts I'd tried them with. I want to try skirts with the same tops, but can't be rid of the pants. I'm stuck in limbo.
