Sonic Foundry appoints Engineering Dean and Cometa CEO to Board of Directors

MADISON - Sonic Foundry, Inc., today announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors, Paul Peercy and Gary Weis.

The Madison-based media communications company hopes to broaden the higher education and telecommunications market experience of its board of directors with the appointments. Peercy and Weis will serve until the company’s next annual shareholders’ meeting, at which time they will stand for election.

Peercy is dean of the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering. In 2000, former Gov. Tommy Thompson named him to the Wisconsin Technology Council.

Weis is the president, chief executive officer and a director of Cometa Networks, a wireless broadband Internet access provider. Previously, he was senior vice president of global services at AT&T.

“Higher education and the business enterprise markets are important to our continued success,” said Rimas Buinevicius, chairman and CEO for Sonic Foundry.
