Imaging firm tops grant list

Madison — A Rice Lake company that provides community hospitals and clinics with diagnostic images pulled in a $3.35 million federal grant, making it the state's top recipient of such grants for the most recently completed reporting period.

Shared Medical Technology Inc. provides mobile medical diagnostic imaging to health care facilities in northwest Wisconsin, northern Minnesota and the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. With help from the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network, the company won funding from the National Institutes of Health for a system to monitor fetal heart rates.
