Johnson Controls selects Navteq for auto navigation system

Digital map provider Navteq will soon put its mapping data under the hood of Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls' Point Location Based Trip Information System, helping users find food, gas and lodging in the area as well as addresses and street information.

"We turned to Navteq because their map data is powering virtually every in-vehicle navigation system in North America and Europe," said Jim Geschke, vice president and general manager of electronics integration for the Automotive Group of Johnson Controls.

Johnson Controls supplies control systems and services to the automotive and facility management industries. Navteq, a Chicago-based company, creates digital maps for worldwide locations, covering 40 countries. It puts maps on PDAs and cell phones as well as the Internet, and its systems can support voice directions.
