Sonic Foundry CEO Predicts the Corporate Enterprise Will Be the Linchpin for Rich Media's Growth Surge at Streaming Media 2003

According to Buinevicius, the first wave of streaming media was predominantly targeted toward consumer applications in sports and entertainment; but by and large, the money hasn't followed. The focus on streaming media is now shifting from entertainment to being a communication tool that can improve productivity and the information experience. Just like the Internet and email, corporations, government organizations and educational institutions are beginning to see the value of rich media as a powerful tool for everything from online training to marketing to distance education.

At Streaming Media NY, held earlier this week at New York Hilton & Towers, New York City, Buinevicius laid out the applications, technologies and market forces that are driving current and future growth of rich media in his speech, titled “Preparing for the Digital Tsunami.”

Sonic Foundry, Madison, is a digital media software solutions company. It provides organizations with a suite of applications and services for creating, capturing, managing, analyzing and streaming rich media. The company also has offices in Santa Monica, Calif.; Wexford, Pa., and Toronto.
