Google and Cleveland Clinic Partner on PHRs...

It is unclear what will come of this pilot test, but surely it indicates a powerful effort to build PHRs, expand the reach of EMRs and foster the interoperability effort spearheaded by the Office of the National Coordinator. Nevertheless, this initiative raises a few questions:
- Does this signal that Google will jump with both feet into the interoperability effort investing billions in this effort?
- Does this indicate that Google supports the centralized model of health record banks promoted by Dr. Bill Yasnoff? (Health Record Banking Alliance)
- Is this PHR effort somehow tied to the Google phone, that super secret effort to open the mobile airwaves?
- If Google makes its money on advertising (clicks and eyeballs), what is Google's position on keeping the information in these PHRs fully private?
It will be interesting to see how this effort unfolds over the next several months.
