Tom Koulopoulos is the author of eight books and one of the industry's pioneering thinkers on the topic of innovation
President and founder of The Delphi Group, Executive Director of the Babson College Center for Business Innovation, Managing Director of one the worlds leading Innovation Labs, one of the industry’s six most influential consultants, according to InformationWeek, author of seven books, lecturer at the Boston College Graduate school of management, and frequent contributor to national and international print and broadcast media.
Mr. Koulopoulos is one of the industry’s most prolific thought leaders on the topic of innovation. His insights provide a beyond-the-edge view of the turbulence created by the collision of technology and business. Tom Peters has called his writing, “a brilliant vision of where we must take our enterprises to survive and thrive.” The late Management guru and 20th Century business icon Peter Drucker, said of Tom’s writing “it makes you question not only the way you run your business but the way you run yourself.”
Letter from TomThere is so much talk about innovation lately that it has become a mantra throughout both the private and public sectors. If you’re like me, you’ve had it with the hype and rah-rah about innovation. You want to get to the nuts and bolts of HOW. It’s not that we don’t recognize “WHAT” we need to do,” it’s that we don’t always know “HOW.”
If we are serious about taking the lead in innovation and reinvigorating the Wisconsin and US economy, as well as the global marketplace, we need to stop singing innovation kumbaya and start delving into the practice and science of innovation.
That's what my new, One-Day Innovation Master Class is all about. Over the last six years I've focused all my attention on the emerging science of Innovation. I've worked with global companies that are leading the charge to innovate by putting in place tangible processes and methods for innovation; I've established one of the world's pre-eminent Research Centers on Innovation at Babson College; I've developed extensive cases studies on companies such as GM, Sony, Apple, 3M, iRobot, and Partners Health Care; and I've just finished a new book titled, The Innovation Zone (Feb 09), which looks at the basic rules, laws and lessons of business innovation. In short, I’m spending all of my time and energy understanding the HOW of innovation. Not just in R&D but in Business as well, where the real innovation today is happening. And here’s the good news; Innovation IS a process and it CAN be learned and made part of any organization. I’m not talking about the feel-good creativity of innovation, but rather the heavy lifting needed to build innovation into HOW an organization behaves and operates.
My job now is simply to do what I do best; teach you HOW innovation is changing organizations by using the best practices and methods I’ve uncovered and to do it without wasting your valuable time, money and energy. Which is why I’ve packaged as much learning as I can into this one-day master class. Can it be done in one-day? You bet! All you need to do is keep up with me for eight solid hours and you’ll walk away with an understanding of innovation that I promise will last a lifetime!
Join me for the Innovation Master Class and Accelerate Madison event in Wisconsin this November and pull far ahead of the crowd. While others are still trying to convince each other WHAT to do you’ll be setting the bar for HOW!
I look forward to seeing you in May! – tk
